Friday, July 8 2011

Saturday, July 9 2011

Impressive line up! With the exception of Def Leppard, nothing really jumps out on grabs me like Rush and Yes did last year. With the economy the way it is right now, I'm not sure that I want to pay $70 or more for tickets to go see Def Leppard. I've seen Kansas, Blue Oyster Cult and Heart before. My biggest bet is on July 1 to see Los Lonely Boys and Styx since they are playing at different times.

There are a few others that jump out at me:

Meat Loaf - That cat can still sing. His voice has held up well.

REO Speedwagon - about 10-20 years ago this would have jumped out at me more. Kevin Cronin's voicehas not held up as well as Meat Loaf's. His voice is shot worse than Roger Daltrey's voice these days.... okay well maybe not quite THAT bad.

Third Eye Blind - I love their debut album but I've heard/read that the studio is Steven Jenkins friend... in other words-- without the neat tricks of the sound engineers his voice doesn't sound near as good.

Blue Oyster Cult - I've heard these guys still put on a solid show. I'd love to hear Don't Fear the Reaper and Burnin' For You live.

July 5th looks like the night to go:
Def Leppard - I have to agree with you on this one.
Paul Rodgers - imho possibly one of the best rock vocalists ever. Free, Bad Company, The Firm, Queen, and his solo stuff. And his voice has also held up quite well (certainly better than Kevin Cronin's has).

I just went and looked at the line up and some that don't look to bad to me are

June 30
REO Speedwagon

July 1
Los Lonely Boys
Styx

July 5
Def Leppard
Paul Rodgers

July 7
Kansas

Some of the other ones are not that bad either but these are the ones that I wouldn't mind going to see.

If I had it my way, I'd go and see them all! Kinda hard to do when all the headliners are playing at the same time!

I'm going to have to agree about Reo, not because of Kevin Cronin, but the lack of Gary Richrath. To me, his guitar skills were incredible! Besides, I wasn't to keen on their late '80's ballads.

I've seen Blue Oyster Cult back in 2002, when they came to Racine. They DO put out a solid show! I may be persuaded to see them again.

Seeing Paul Rodgers does sound great...

Peter Frampton!!! I'm there!

Hey, if you're a fan, he's on Facebook and his posts seem heartfelt. Like I think it's really him.

Thirty-fifth anniversary of Frampton Comes Alive. Hard to believe!
