Yoso

A blogging friend of mine, Perplexo, introduced to me a new band I'm stoked about hearing. Yoso. Yoso is the latest arrival as supergroups go. The band features Bobby Kimball-the vocalist from Toto, Tony Kaye-the keyboardist from early Yes, Billy Sherwood-who played the guitar for Yes from 1997 to 2000 is on the bass and vocals. Touring with them is Scott Conner-a drummer from a Genesis tribute band and Johnny Bruhns-a guitar player from a Yes tribute band.

They are presently on tour in Europe.

From what I heard from them, they sound a bit like a cross of the 90125 era Yes and Toto with a twist. I know what you're thinking...Toto and Yes are as far apart from the rock spectrum as one could get. Maybe an unlikely combination, but it works!

Hopefully, I'll get this one for Christmas. Heck, maybe I'll just buy it myself. Check it out!

A Toto-fan friend mentioned them to me on Facebook this past weekend. So I made sure to pass it along to you and a few other Toto and Yes fans that I know of.

Incidentally, Toto will also be touring Europe in 2011, although without Kimball. Bobby was their lead singer from 1977-1984 and again from 1998-2008. When the band re-formed to raise money for Mike Porcaro and his family last year (he's been diagnosed with ALS/Lou Gehrig's Disease) they opted to go with Joseph Williams (their vocalist from 1986-1989) instead of Bobby.
