Packer Week # 15

The Packers lost to the New England Patriots tonight 31-27.

Here are my thoughts of the game...

I originally thought the Packers were going to get skunked in today's game.
QB Aaron Rodgers sat out for today's game because of last week's concussion.
Back up QB Matt Flynn played well, throwing 3 touchdowns.
The Packers were leading in most of the game until the forth quarter.
New England clinched a playoff spot in the AFC.

More on the game here.

A friend of mine & I watched that game last night. Flynn did very well for a back-up QB the only time his inexperience really showed was in the last 59 seconds.

The other game I enjoyed yesterday was the Eagles/Giants game. I used to dislike the Eagles because of Donovan McNabb. I think he's an overhyped QB and the hype surrounding him far exceeds his actual talent. Once McNabb was traded to the Redskins my dislike of the Eagles shrank considerably. I think Philly or Chicago will be the team to beat in the NFC. As good as Atlanta has been most of their victories have been close games. They've been the benefactors of luck. I don't know that that luck will hold in the playoffs. I expect their luck to run out when/if they face either the Eagles or the Bears.

The team to beat in the AFC, the Patriots. They looked invulnerable against the Jets and Bears. The one good thing that came out of last night's game-- even though they did win-- it showed they are vulnerable. There's no reason that game should have been that close. The Packers really exposed the chinks in the Patriots armor. I think the Patriots will return to the Super Bowl though. I don't think any of the teams in the AFC play-off picture have the goods to beat them this year. They downright embarassed the Steelers a few weeks back.

As much as I love the Browns, I'm kind of hoping they lose the last few games as I'd like to see them get rid of Mangini and hire Bill Cowher (granted it's not certain he'd coach the Browns, he turned them down a few years ago-- but he wasn't ready to come back to coaching yet). Although his job may already be toast, in which case I'd prefer they win those last few games.

I know a lot of Cowboys fans are hoping to get Cowher as their coach, I don't think he'd be willing to work there. That team is too micro-managed by their front-office. He wants more autonomy than they could offer.

Right now I'm watching the Bears/Vikings game and the Bears are looking good right now. Kinda rooting for the Vikes, yet I know that the Bears are going to win. Admittedly, I'd like to see it come down to the wire for the playoffs in the Bear/Packer game at season's end. Both teams face tough teams next week. Bears have the Jets while the Pack play the Giants.

After watching Matt Flynn perform so well against the Pats last night, I'm more confident in his position as the quarterback. As you can tell, the Pack are a better team than the record shows.

I also watched a bit of the Giant/Eagles game yesterday. I had predicted the red hot Eagles to win. Quite honesty, I wrote off the Eagles to win this one by the time I shut off the TV before the game's end. It wasn't till later during the Packer game that the Eagles had won! Imagine my surprise...

Yes the Packer game against New England was a real good game. I will admit that the Packers looked real good Sunday night. But I knew that they would not win against New England. There was no way that would happen. But they put up a good game.

Now for the Bears last night. That was a great game. First they took out Farve. Sorry I was sitting there laughing about that one. Then after that the Bears whipped butt with the Vikings. I loved the whole game last night.

Just wait until the last game. Remember what happened when the Bears played the Packers last time. Also remember what happened with that bet you made. It is going to happen again!
