Super Bowl XLV

The Green Bay Packers beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 31-25 in this action packed Super Bowl game.

Here are my thoughts of the game...

My girlfriend's son came down from Shawano to watch the game with us. Had sub sandwiches and snacks galore during the game.

The pre-game show was the usual crap.

The Packers completely dominated the first half. Aaron Rogers was on fire. The Packers' defense was red hot! After all, the Steelers got picked off twice. Although the Steelers defense was good, not enough to stop the Pack. The Packers were leading 21-3.

Half time was a joke. The Black Eyed Peas looked like a Christmas tree gone wild. The only bright spot was the special appearance of Slash.

Injuries got the better of the Pack. Charles Woodsen, Donald Driver and Sam Sheilds got sent the locker room to tend their injuries. It looked as if the Steelers were going to make a comeback. Things were getting scary. Yet the Packers prevailed in the forth quarter, stopping a potential winning Steeler drive in the end.

Aaron Rodger won the MVP award for his game efforts.

All in all, it was a GREAT season for the Packers. I never expected them to go all this way, but I'm GLAD that they did!

Packer Week # 20 NFC Championship Game

The Green Bay Packers beat the Chicago Bears 21-14 and won the right to go to the Super Bowl this afternoon.

Here are my thoughts of the game....

Quite honestly, I didn't think either team would make it this far...
The Packers played an excellent first half!
Bears lost QB Jay Cutler in the 3rd quarter due to knee injury.
Their second string QB, Todd Collins was ineffective.
Admittedly, I was starting to get worried when their third string QB, Caleb Hanie was playing rather well.
Both defenses played great! Yet, the Packers prevailed in the end!

Packer Fever

With just one more set of games before the Superbowl and Packer Fever is sweeping the state like wildfire...All I see is a sea of green and gold (along with some blue and orange). The talk is on the streets, on the taverns, in workplaces, in the supermarkets-it's everywhere! The hype is just as contagious if not more since football icon Brett Farve took the boys to Superbowl XXXI in 1997.

Quite honestly, I never expected the Packers to make it this far. I knew that they were good, not this great! After completing a season with a 10-6 record, they plowed over the Philadelphia Eagles and the Atlanta Falcons with a surprising ease.

What a team this is! The bone crunching defense, led by Pro-Bowlers Matthew Clay and Charles Woodson has virtually wrecked havoc on teams everywhere. The once untouchable quarterbacks are now have thrown down on the turf! My hats is off to defensive coordinator Dom Capers for making this happen!

On the offensive side of the ball. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has thrown with pin point accuracy to various receivers. Never know which will get the ball. Could be Donald Driver, Greg Jennings, James Jones, Donald Lee, or Andrew Quarless. The once defunct running game is now alive thanks the rookie James Starks.

Give it two thumbs up to Mike McCarthy for keeping on injury riddled team alive!

And the blue and orange? Oh yeah, I haven't forgotten about them. The Chicago Bears. Well, they too has exceeded my expectations. Their defense is a force to be recognized with. The modern day Monsters of the Midway led by Brian Urlacher has shut down teams across the league. Quarterback Jay Cutler has shown some amazing plays. Special team Devin Hester is a dare devil on the gridiron type kick off returner. Gotta watch out for him!

And the rivalry? Oh my! The history between these teams go WAY back to earliest days of football. Since 1921, these teams have going at it! Chicago leads the all time series 97-95-6. This the first time they met in the playoffs since 1941.

Making things interesting, my Chicago born girlfriend, some of my friends and co-workers are Bear fans. There is a lot of trash talk, teasing, ribbing and other jocularity going on. I've heard all of this before, but nothing to this level. Admittedly, I'm having fun with this. I've got bets going on. Let's just say, if the Packers lose, I get to wear a Bears jersey for the Super Bowl game. I know...YIKES! I'm praying....

Anyways, this should be a great game! It's history in the making. After all ONE of us going to the Super Bowl! May the best team win!

Packers Week #19 NFC Divisional Game

Holy cow! What a slaughter! The Green Bay Packers beat the Atlanta Falcons 48-21 in this divisional game.

Here are my thoughts of the game...

The Packers are smokin' hot now!
The Packers' defense completely shutdown Atlanta's famous running game.
Aaron Rodgers completed 31 of 36 passes for 366 yards
The Falcons made four turnovers
The only great action from Atlanta was Eric Weems' 102-yard return on an ensuing kickoff.

Packers Week #18 NFC Wild Card Playoff

The Green Bay Packers beat the Philadelphia Eagles 21-16 in this playoff game.

Here are my thoughts of the game.

The Packers played an impressive defense, sacking Philly's QB Micheal Vick a couple of times.
QB Aaron Rodgers threw for three touchdowns.
The Pack finally had a running game-rookie James Starks ran for 101 yards.
Philly's kicker David Ackers missed two field goals.
All in all, I thought it was a great game, both teams played well.

Green Bay goes against top seeded Atlanta next week. Pray that the Packers win again...

I wonder what Seano has to say about this game,,,

Packers Week # 17

The Green Bay Packers beat rivals Chicago Bears in this season ending game 10-3

Here are my thoughts of the game...

The defense on both sides of the ball played well, especially the Packers, who sacked Chicago's QB Jay Cutler 6 times.
The special teams kept all star kick returner Delvin Hester to a minimum.
The offense on either side of the ball didn't play to well...
All in all, it was a well played game both teams played with meaning.
The Packers are now in the playoffs with a 10-6 record.
The Packers go against the Philadelphia Eagles next Sunday at 3:15 CT.

More on the game here.

One more thing-To all of my great friends and family members that are Bear fans, especially to those who have heckled and teased me ALL season long.... I love you all, but BOO YA! See ya in the playoffs!

Here are my thoughts of the game...

The Packers pretty much dominated the entire game.
The Giants committed six turnovers in the game.
Packers QB Aaron Rodgers threw for 404 yards and four touchdowns.

Great game overall, the Packers NEED to win next week's game against the Bears to make the playoffs!

Packer Week # 15

The Packers lost to the New England Patriots tonight 31-27.

Here are my thoughts of the game...

I originally thought the Packers were going to get skunked in today's game.
QB Aaron Rodgers sat out for today's game because of last week's concussion.
Back up QB Matt Flynn played well, throwing 3 touchdowns.
The Packers were leading in most of the game until the forth quarter.
New England clinched a playoff spot in the AFC.

Packer Week # 14

The Green Bay Packers lost to the Detroit Lions this afternoon 7-3.

Here are my thoughts of the game....

Sloppy plays on offense by both teams.
Fumbles, sacks and interceptions plagued the Packers.
The defense on both sides of the ball were impressive.
Packers' QB Aaron Rodgers was out of the game in the second half due to a concussion.
I wish I hadn't watched this game...

Packer Week #13

The Green Bay Packers beat the San Francisco 49ers this afternoon 34-16.

Here are my thoughts of the game...

The 1929 throw back uniforms worn by the Pack really, really sucked..
The Packers struggled in the first half.
The second half the Pack dominated...
Packers wide receivers Donald Driver and Greg Jennings both had impressive plays for touchdowns.
The Packers are now 8-4 and are still in the hunt for the playoffs...

Packers Week # 12

The Green Bay Packers lost to the Atlanta Falcons this afternoon in this nail biter of a game 20-17.

Here are my thoughts of the game:

Both teams played well on both sides of the ball, they were evenly matched.
It felt like I was watching a playoff game.
Packers QB Aaron Rodgers fumbled on a QB sneak into the end zone-the first Packer turnover in 15 quarters.
Atlanta's kicker Matt Bryant made the winning field goal with 9 seconds left.

The Packers are now 7-4 and are still in the race for the playoffs. It didn't help that the Bears beat Philly today.

Packers Week # 11

The Packers swept the Minnesota Vikings this season, beating them again, 31-3. Here are my thoughts of the game....

In the first quarter, the Vikings held the Pack to only eight yards.
For the rest of the game, it was all Packers...
Packer QB Aaron Rodgers threw for 301 yards and four TD's.
The Vikings ARE in a mess...there was squabbling on the sidelines.
Me thinks Viking's coach Brad Childress is not coming back next season...
Neither will Brett Farve...

Packers Week #10

The Packers are on a bye this week...So let's talk about Super Bowl predictions. About mid season I try to make my Super Bowl predictions. Usually I'm spot on each year. This year, It's going to be tough.

The AFC teams, this year are on the strong side...As of this point, the New York Jets leads the AFC with a 7-2 record. New England and Pittsburgh are both 6-2 while Indianapolis and Baltimore are 6-3. Also in the race with a 5-4 record are, Miami, Oakland, Tennessee, and Jacksonville. Kansas City leads the West Division with a 5-3 record.

Based on this I'm taking New York or New England to take the AFC spot.

The NFC seems much easier to predict. Atlanta leads it with a 7-2 record. The New York Giants, Chicago, Green Bay, New Orleans, and Tampa Bay are all tied with a 6-3 record. Philadelphia is in the race at 5-3. St. Louis and Seattle are both tied on the top of the West Division.

I kind like seeing the New York or Atlanta being in.

What's your prediction?

Packers Week #9

The Packers slaughtered the hapless Dallas Cowboys 45-7 tonight.

Here are my thoughts of the game...

The Packers just dominated the game through out.
Dallas' QB Tony Romo was out for the season with a broken collarbone.
GB's superstar defensive lineman Clay Matthews intercepted a pass and returned it for a 62 yard TD.
The only sign of life for Dallas was a TD late in the first half.

Packers Week #8

The Packers shut out the New York Jets 9-0 at the Meadowlands today...

Here are my thoughts of the game...

This was a highly defensive game. There were no touchdowns.
NY Jet's Mark Sanchez spent most of the day on the run.
I dozed on and off during the game and missed a few plays.
The Packers are now 5-3 surprisingly

Packers Week #7

The Packers beat division rivals Minnesota Vikings 28-24 tonight at Lambeau Field. Very interesting game!

Here are my thoughts of the game...

The Pack probably played the best football of all season in this game-making few mistakes...
Aaron Rodgers threw for more than 300 yards.
Brett Farve got picked off three times-once for a touchdown.
The Packers running game definitely improved this week.
The Vikings' Adrian Peterson rushed for more than 100 yards.

Packers Week #6

A case of deja 'vu... The Packers lost tp the Miami Dolphins 23-20 in overtime....

Here are my thoughts of the game...

Aaron Rodgers started the game and played brilliantly thought out
Greg Jennings 86 yard TD catch was spectacular!
At that point, it looked as if the Pack should win the game.
Sad to say, The Pack still doesn't have a running game.
Miami routed the Packers secondary.

Packers are now 3-3. I don't know about making the playoffs, yet.

Packers Week #5

Packers Week# 4

Sorry for a such a late post...My internet connection has been down since my last post. To top it off, Blogger has been acting funny....Never fear, somehow, someway-I'll prevail!

Anyways, the Packers did beat the Detroit Lions 28-26 yesterday.

Here are my thoughts of the game:

The Packers played a sloppy game, committing four turnovers. including two interceptions.
The Lions didn't look that bad on offense. Their quarterback threw for 331 yards.
The Lions did manage 13 penalties.
The Pack needs to get a running game going. Braden Jackson just isn't cutting it.
The good side is...the Packers are 3-1

Packers Week #3

It's one of those games I'm gonna regret saying anything....In an action filled game, the Packers lost the Chicago Bears 20-17. Here are my thoughts of the game:

The Packers jump started the game looking awesome!
Aaron Rodgers looked brilliant at times reminding me of Brett Farve of his younger days.
At times it looked like either team could win.
The Packers had WAY too many penalties 17 of them! Mostly for stupid things that be avoided.
The game was tied at the end till a last minute field goal by the Bears.

More on the game here.

Now that I've lost a bet, I have wear a Bears t-shirt tomorrow. I hope I don't break out in a rash....
