Blind Faith

I remember as a teenager, walking down the street listening to this album on my Walkman, thinking music doesn't get much better than this. The truth is-it doesn't. The one and only Blind Faith album remains among the best albums in my collection.

Born out of the ashes of the broken up bands Cream and Traffic, this album consists of Cream's guitar god, Eric Clapton and drummer extraordinaire Ginger Baker. The soulful voice of Traffic's keyboardist/vocalist Steve Winwood sends shivers down my spine! Family's Rick Grech fills the spot of the bassist perfectly. What a supergroup line up this is!

There is not is wasted note on this record! The guitar solos on Had to Cry Today blows my mind! The rollicking piano solo on Well All Right has gotten me dazzled! Tunes like Can't Find My Way Home and Sea of Joy gives me the chills!

The band only lasted a year, only to record this album and do a tour in 1969. A damn shame. I kind of wonder what music they would have created if this band stayed together.

Get the reissue that they put out a fwe years back. It sounds great, there are tons of cool out-takes, and a new version of 'Can't find my way home' that will change your life.

Awww... I really love watching Winwood and Clapton together, and I am a fan of this album too ! Baker and Grech have done their parts really wonderfully in this album, and its definitely a must album to have in your closet ! It had a remarkable release, and was really helpful in popularizing the band among the masses ...

Surprisingly I have some of Winwood's material with Spencer Davis Group and some of his solo stuff, but I don't have anything from Blind Faith or Traffic. I do dig his voice. And I've got some Chicago bootlegs where they covered Spencer Davis Group's Gimme Some Lovin' (Chicago actually recorded a cover of I'm a Man for their 1969 debut album). So I guess it's kind of due to Chicago that I got into Steve Winwood.

R&RH-I DO have the deluxe version of the Blind Faith album. The electric version of Can't Find My Way Home kicks ass!

Arjit-If you like watching the Clapton/Winwood combo, you might want to check out the Blind Faith "London Hyde Park 1969" and Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood "Live from Madison Square Garden" DVD's. They are both great!

Perplexo-If you are into Steve Winwood, I'd also recommend the first four Traffic albums and The Low Spark of the High Heel Boys. You can't go wrong with those albums.

Classic Girl-I agree!
